Dr. Spence, voted "Top Plastic Surgeon" by Orlando Magazine readers, comments on some of the latest trends and techniques of plastic surgery, where minor procedures can achieve dramatic results.
As we gear up for the summer, many of us begin to think about how to eliminate that resistant area of body fat which plagues us despite diet and exercise. Dr. Spence relates that the latest medical studies show that liposuction is still the most popular plastic surgical procedure performed in America. "With the advent of new techniques in liposuction, many patients are returning to work in a shorter period of time," states Dr. Spence. "By achieving this shorter down time, it makes liposuction practical and convenient." Dr. Spence's practice almost exclusively now uses Power Assisted Liposuction, which can be performed under local or general anesthesia. This removes much of the effort from the procedure allowing Dr. Spence to concentrate completely on technique to achieve the finest contour. When liposuction is performed under local anesthesia, Dr. Spence says his patients equate it to the feeling of a massage. "The Tumescent technique is used in combination with the Power Assisted Liposuction and this minimizes bruising," states Dr. Spence, "...it produces prolonged relief from discomfort and speeds the patient's return to daily activities." Power Assisted Liposuction enables Dr. Spence to remove those difficult, thick fat pockets such as the male flanks and breast, and for women the back and hips. For patients that require contouring of relatively smaller areas of fat, liposuction under local anesthesia is an excellent tool. Many of these patients are able to return to work the following day and resume regular exercise and activities within a week. Dr. Spence says, "Massage therapy is both helpful in reducing swelling, as well as soothing in the days immediately following surgery." Breast AugmentationBreast Augmentation continues to be a safe operation in high demand, for both saline and silicone implants. Silicone implants are available to patients who qualify for study enrollment. According to Dr. Spence, there are many different profiled implants on the market enabling the surgeon to match your chest wall, breast size and shape. Endoscopic breast augmentation is quite popular with patients not wanting a scar on their breast as the implants are placed through a small incision in the armpit. Short scar operations are now very popular. Dr. Spence has performed and perfected many short-scar breast lifts that are sought-after in his practice, and they are often combined with breast implants. Dr. Spence indicates that this procedure produces a long-lasting, rejuvenating effect on the breast with as little scarring as possible. Shaping up, for summer, from head to toe can sometimes involve a complete makeover. In Dr. Spence's practice, a team of makeover consultants is made available to his surgical patients to make possible their new look. Dr. Spence's practice has established a network of personal trainers, nutritionists, weight management consultants, makeup artists and hair stylists who are available to his patients. States Dr. Spence, "We believe that plastic surgery is but a part of the road to your total well being. The combination of well-executed surgery and the discipline of diet and exercise will lead to a happy and beautiful you." In his medical facility located at 130 Hillcrest Street, complete with its own certified surgical, massage, and skincare suites, Dr. Spence's patients can choose from services from surgical and non surgical facial rejuvination procedures to breast augmentation, liposculpture and abdominoplasty. Dr. Spence is a meber of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and boarded by The American Board of Surgery, and stresses the significance of researching the credentials of both the physicians you visit as well as the facility where procedures are performed. Make certain your doctor is board certified for the procedure you want. Safety is of the utmost importance. |
